Hester Store isn’t just an ice cream and coffee shop, it’s a family project, built on love for our community and respect for its history.
The store is co-owned by siblings Tasha Carpenter and Cody Rathbone, both proud Coast Guard veterans with deep local roots. Tasha lives here in Dacusville, where she recently restored one of the community’s original 1895 homes, and Cody lives in Easley with his wife and four children. Together, they’ve dreamed of bringing Hester Store back to life as a place where neighbors can gather, laugh, and make new memories.
Day-to-day, the store is run by Cody’s wife, who brings her heart for hospitality and knack for keeping things running smoothly. And don’t be surprised if you see the next generation helping out too, between the two families, there are eight kids who are always ready to lend a hand (and happily taste-test the ice cream).
For Tasha and Cody, this project is about more than business, it’s about giving back to the community that raised them. As veterans, they bring the values of service, dedication, and teamwork into everything they do. As locals, they’re committed to making Hester Store a place that feels like home to everyone who walks through the door.
When you stop by for a cone, a milkshake, or your morning coffee, you’re not just supporting a shop, you’re becoming part of the extended Hester Store family.
